Soon, I will start to use an online management tool called Class Dojo. It is a website that has an app for it that I use on my phone, and it tracks student behavior. There are editable positive and negative behaviors that I can add with our class roster. Each student gets their own user name and during the day through my phone based app, I can give and take away points for specific behaviors. Some of the positive behaviors I have on there include being on task, working cooperatively, being kind, participation, and hard work. Some of the negative behaviors include being disrespectful, being off task, teasing or bothering others, having no homework, and being unprepared.
Students will accumulate points for certain prize levels every 25 points. The first level will be to reach 25 points and they can redeem a coupon worth a prize such as wearing sunglasses to school or walking around the classroom without shoes.. :) (cheap, but fun!). Negative behaviors will make them lose points and it will be harder to reach the point goals.
NOW HERE IS THE BEST PART!
You, as parents, can track your child's behavior progress. Every week, a summary of the weekly behavior will be emailed. You will know where they received points and where they lost them. Occasionally I might also add a message for a certain behavior.
Students will know they cannot get away with anything in school.. :)
In the parent handbook that I sent home, I had attached your child's personal account code. You have to go to
www.classdojo.com
and sign up as a parent. It will prompt you to enter your email address and the system will send the weekly report to that email.
Inshallah, I will send home another copy of the code in the upcoming week. I hope to see everyone sign up!
